Richardson Military Promotion | Family Photographer Washington, DC Area

It’s hard to believe that it was just last year that my family was in the Richardson’s shoes. We celebrated my husband’s promotion to Lt. Colonel in the Air Force over Memorial Day last year. I know my husband was a bit envious of Jason Richardson’s promotion when I came home and told him about it.

Jason is a huge history buff; he and his wife Amanda even named their girls with names tied to presidents. They had been prior clients of my photogafriend, Carol at D’Corzo Photography, who has been on maternity leave. Jason’s promotion took place on the steps of one of his favorite monuments in Washington, DC: The Jefferson Memorial.

His promotion was short, without much of the normal fanfare, but included the important points: we all heard what an amazing officer Jason is and how deserving he is of this promotion from a 2-star General he’s worked with, and Jason with us how important his family, particularly his parents and wife, have been in supporting and helping him on his Air Force journey.

It was an honor to document such an important day; many tourists to the D.C. area were also witnessing and taking photos, even though many weren’t sure what they were watching! After so many forecasts of rain, we had a breezy but sunny morning that I’m sure the Richardson family will cherish forever. Thank you so much for letting me be part of your day!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
