Maternity Session Photographer in Washington DC | B Family at Rock Creek Park’s Boulder Bridge

Venturing into Washington DC for a maternity session at a new place was a great way to start my Christmas break! If you haven’t been to Rock Creek Park, this location was a dream. This gorgeous mama wanted her maternity shots on Boulder Bridge in Rock Creek Park. Because the park is taken care of by the National Park Service, clients have to pay for a permit, just like they would for the National Mall. I’m so glad that didn’t deter her, because this session was amazing.

And oh my goodness. I love repeat clients who get what lifestyle photography is like and who are willing to get permits to get an amazing venue! Maternity sessions do not have to be forced a posed. I love making it about the relationship between the family and capturing that excitement as they wait for the family dynamics to change.

I was able to do the birth announcement for this family last summer, and it was as much fun. They know how to play and love, and that makes for great photos! I can’t wait to find out in a few weeks in Baby B is a boy or girl… I’m so excited I have been with them to document so many parts of this journey to becoming a family of four!

To book a maternity session, just email me at teresa@tcjdesign.com or go to my contact page. I love weaving in your ideas for you maternity session and making it personal. If you think about it, a maternity session is really just another family or couple session!

WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR PEOPLE WHO want their story told

Hi. I’m Teresa. While photography is a part-time job for me, documenting your stories doesn’t ever get treated like it’s not important. My full-time gig is teaching high school English, journalism, and photography at an all-boys’ school in Washington, DC. Journalism is my favorite subject to teach because it is as much about writing as it is about the art of observing the world, and I became a photographer because of my experiences in photojournalism.

You’ll see in galleries with my families, children, newborns, or weddings, my style definitely is more about documenting connection and trying to create real moments. I love a good portrait, but my heart is happiest when I get real smiles from people loving on and playing with each other.
